On a certain afternoon in Amsterdam, I went into a beautiful old building near the main square which had been partially converted into shop units. One of these contained a gift shop with some unusual items which I enjoyed browsing. There were two assistants in the shop – a chap in his 50s and a younger lady in her 30s.
While the male assistant was wrapping a gift I’d purchased, I felt prompted to say to him “I know this might be a random question (!) but you don’t have any back pain, do you? I’m only asking because I often pray for people with physical pain and God takes their pain away. I feel like there’s someone ’ll meet today who has pain that God wants to take away.”
There, I ‘d said it! Well, I figured that even if he didn’t appreciate the offer, he could only say no!
But instead, he quickly gestured towards his female colleague saying – “Well, I personally don’t have pain but I know that Tanya does! She’s had back pain forever!”
At this, Tanya emerged from sorting through boxes of stock to find out why her name was being mentioned. Catching her up with a brief explanation, I asked Tanya about her back pain. It was something she had endured for many years, not really knowing what its original cause was. The pain was pretty constant at a mid to low level but worse at night when she lies down, even interrupting her sleep.
When I offered to pray for Tanya, she said how that was “beautiful”, obviously moved that a stranger would want to help people in this way. Her answer was “yes!”. She had never been prayed for before or heard of - much less experienced - the healing power of Jesus. This was a Gospel message wrapped up in the care, power and love of Jesus being released to someone who had not yet heard who He really is or how good He is.
As I released healing to Tanya, I strongly sensed the need to command realignment/repositioning to her skeleton, the back and hip bones in particular. There were other things I prayed in that brief prayer, but that stood out to me the most. It didn’t come as too much of a surprise, then, when I asked Tanya if she had experienced any sensation in her body during the prayer and she replied “The moment you prayed about realignment, I actually felt something move around and shift inside my back where your hand was. It really did move! It was pretty weird, actually!”
I explained about Jesus being able to perform Divine chiropractic with perfect precision!
As she checked herself out, Tanya reported ease and looseness in her back with no pain – but the real test would be when she lay down that night. I left her my contact card, saying I would love to hear how her nights go, when she has a moment to let me know. Tanya was so thankful and requested permission to give me a hug. I parted with two gifts, one for a loved one and the most beautiful gift of all – seeing Jesus encounter someone who was least expecting it!
P.S. I ended up in that part of town again a few days later and popped in to see if Tanya was there. She was! And her report was that, aside from a very small “niggle”, she had been pain free when she laid down after the prayer and had “slept like a baby” since then! Yay Jesus! She mentioned again how crazy it had been to feel things shift around inside her body during the prayer – but the result was beautiful!
Dear Holy Spirit, please walk with Tanya on her ongoing journey, so that she discovers more and more of just how beautiful Jesus is – and that He has come to heal her whole life into eternity. Hallelujah!
