"You aren't going to make me cry, are you?"
SLOUGH 5TH APRIL 2017
Inside one of the shopping centres I came across three young guys promoting ….can’t actually remember! They had a stand anyway!
I talked first with "Andy" – a young chap I felt pretty sure was from a Christian background, as turned out to be the case. He told me he had recently had a baby daughter and we chatted a bit. I had told all the guys that I was a kind of street pastor and I love to encourage people with the good things God sees about them. Andy was happy and open to this. What I spoke over him was that God was not offended at his doubts about Him, or his failures and lack of perfection but just wanted relationship with him all the time - outside of rule keeping and” trying to be good”. …things along those Grace-lines! He was so grateful and relieved by what I told him that he spontaneously hugged me saying “I’m so glad you have told me that”
I then spoke to"Joe" ( Caribbean background) He was waiting for me to give him a word from God and seemed pretty eager about it. I didn’t think Joe was walking with God….as I started talking to him I said “You are the middle child in your family?” YES! He was the middle one of 5 children. The word for him was that his position in the family was intentional by God and he was there for a special reason, not just another child in the family overlooked and sidelined while the older child or the baby got the attention. God knew everything about his experience of being the middle child and wanted him to know he was always noticed and celebrated by Him. He also needs to know that he has real influence in his family – more than the others, even as the middle child. He confirmed this, saying that actually his parents listen to him and respect his opinion more than even that of the older siblings. He was really smiling as he told me that.!
I asked him if he had any health issues I could pray for – he said he got sore legs quite a bit …they didn’t hurt then or all the time but after standing a lot. I prayed for him to be released and healed from that and he was very thankful. Couldn’t test it there and then as not hurting at that point
Lastly was "A" – a really tall Muslim young chap. He was also eagerly waiting for his turn to get a word from God! I didn’t have anything when I first started speaking - like ABSOLUTELY NOTHING !! – other than to say that he was really tall! But actually as I just said that out loud to him, I went on to say that God had made him really tall in physical stature but that "A" didn’t see himself on the inside as a tall man but as a small one. At this he said “oh my goodness you aren’t going to make me cry are you?” I laughed and said I couldn’t guarantee it but I would do my best! He was really resonating with this whole area of thinking “little” of himself, nodding and saying “yeah that’s true” especially when I went on to speak about harsh, limiting words that have been spoken over him as he was growing up and how God wanted him to know those words were lies and he is not to live by them as if they are truth. God sees him as a tall man, a strong and capable man of stature on the inside, not just the outside. This is how he wants him to see and conduct himself. "A" was so thankful for this word and he asked me if I had any email address? I gave him a card as I also did to Joe and Andy and left them smiling.
Outside on the high street I came across “Dan” – handing out leaflets. He had a strong accent and we talked about his hometown for a bit. He then told me about his love of running and the half marathons he had done in the freezing cold. This led to him telling me that he had come down with a flu after one of these runs which turned into a chest infection that he was still fighting now after antibiotics. He was due to run a few days time from then so he hoped it would be better!! I offered to pray and he said okay though he was a bit nervous watching for his supervisor and asked if it would take long. I prayed for him and although he didn’t say how he felt or what he experienced he did thank me and I was happy I had taken the encounter as far as HS intended . I moved on blessing him as I left. Go running after him and with him HS !!
I also spoke to a young man (from Eritrean background) called "Abe" He was from a believing family. I think my word for him was about him being a boundary breaker and an adventurer in his family – he is the one that does things first, trying new things so others can follow. Also about him travelling as part of this adventurer thing. He resonated with these words about him – he is the eldest child who does do things first and leads the way for others in his family. It was a short but sweet meeting and I pray that each person I met that day will know the constant pursuit of Fathers love toward them as HS moves in their lives.
