In a busy city coffee house, my eye was drawn to a server in charge – possibly the manager. I felt Jesus had some encouragement for her today, but I didn’t know in what format.
I sensed Jesus say to me “Ask me what I would name a rose, if I named it specially after her”!
So, I asked Him!
In my mind’s eye I could see a rose, not quite fully open and in a beautiful blend of colours – from strong, pinky orange, to apricot to pale yellow. I felt the name of this rose was “My Sunset Girl” - hence the colours I had seen. Jesus then downloaded some personal details about the server to do with her life and the way sunsets are so important to her. Roses too!
I wrote it all out on some paper I found in my bag and, once the server was on her own and less busy, I went over and explained about the rose picture!
This lady – Mya – was visibly moved that someone would do this for her and nodded about her love of sunsets and roses. She was bowled over that God would say something so beautiful about her. I had to leave her as more customers were coming in. However brief our meeting, I know that Father had eternal purposes in it.
My prayer is that whenever Mya sees roses or sunsets again, she will remember the Father’s special love letter to her that day and will realise again how He wants her to know Him intimately.
Dear reader, why don’t you ask Father God what name He would give to a rose named specially after YOU?! What are the colours? What else does He want to say through that picture? Then ask that question for someone else too, especially someone who doesn’t know Him yet !
On the same day, in a different coffee house, there was a server there who also seemed to stand out. A chap in his late thirties, perhaps. Asking Father about him, I sensed Him say that this man was a courageous fellow, not afraid to step out and take risks. However, there was one area where fear stopped him stepping out – it was in his heart, to do with trusting people. Because he had put his trust in significant people and been badly let down and hurt, it was now difficult for him to enjoy trusting relationships with others. The Heavenly Father understands this completely and is going to bring him healing through the very thing that he fears – other people. He will bring others to him to help him heal from this fear, if he will let them in and allow his heart to be open to trust again, with God’s help, not through his own strength or will.
Again, I wrote it all down on some paper in case he was too busy for me to talk to him properly. The server happened to come right next to my table to stack some trays. Addressing him with “Excuse me”…the server must have thought I had some comment or complaint to do with the coffee house. What a surprise he got when I explained the things I felt God had showed me in order to encourage him. I also got a surprise when the server told me that his name is Aslan!! No wonder he is lion hearted!!
Aslan was moved, shocked, grateful…he acknowledged that the words I shared were very true. There were tears in his eyes. He told me that he was going to ask his manager if he could have his break right now, as he wanted to take the words I had written and read them on his own in a quiet place. Something very significant was happening in his heart.
Would you pray with me that Aslan meets the real Lion of Judah, Jesus, who mends hearts, bodies, minds and our whole lives through His saving love? .
