Slough – last week October 2018
It was only a few days after we got back from our trip and I was post-holiday bleary…. big-time! I was finding it hard to concentrate and felt I was just bumbling around in a fog.
After walking around town for a bit it felt like nothing was coming together in terms of finding people to pray for and began to think it had been a mistake to go in today, feeling like I did.
Anyway….I did one more loop of the High Street and came across a group of four young ladies who were all about to start a holiday shift handing out leaflets for a leisure centre. After some general chit chat where I asked the most banal questions (!) I half-heartedly asked the group if any of them had any aches or pains, especially in their back. I fully expected them to say “No, we’re all good” but one of them (Anya) said “Me! I do! I have pain in my back! How did you know?” I explained about listening to God and praying for peoples’ pain and that I would be really glad (mostly!) to pray for her back. Another friend beside her said “YES” Do that for her!” so I very briefly placed my hand on the sore area (5/10 pain level ) and asked Anya if she felt anything where my hand was. “Yes it feels – strange, I can’t describe it.”
When I took my hand away and had her check it out, her eyes went W I D E and she said a colourful word! Her pain had completely gone and she was twisting and turning side to side and back to front like she was in a gym session! “I just feel like crying” she said. She was in glory shock!! As the other friends wanted to talk with her about it, a quieter girl “Tess” asked me separately whether you had to have pain for “something to happen”? I twigged that she wanted to feel the presence of God like her friend had, even though she didn’t have any physical issues. So I had her put her hands out in front of her and I prayed over her hands asking Holy Spirit to come and presence Himself in a tangible way. When I asked her what she was experiencing, she said she felt “different” but couldn’t explain it, she was feeling the Peace of God. It was beautiful.
I had opportunity to speak individual prophetic words over each of the four girls – they were very animated when I called out one as the “mother of the group” , always taking care of the others and organising things as a mum would – “that is SO who she is, how did you know that?!”. It was a great opportunity to talk about the reality of Jesus, to encourage them to call out to Him and to ask Him to show them more of who He is now that they had “tasted and seen that He is good”. I gave them each a card with my contact details and blessed them all and their work as I left. I’m so glad I hung around longer and didn’t go home and that Jesus showed me yet again that He is well able to encounter people through us, even when we are in post-holiday zombie mode!!
