Christmas shopping time!
It was odd today, though my day had started normally, once I got to town I felt really lethargic and apathetic - just couldn’t be bothered even to go shopping. I returned an item and checked if one I had come to collect had arrived - it hadn’t.. I was ready just to call it quits and go back home. As i headed toward the car park, a Barry White song I know well came over the sound system. I started walking in step to its beat and a new-found energy rose up and took me back out into the street! My verve and purpose had returned (Holy Spirit are you still chuckling ?!)
I hadn’t walked too far when I came across two guys raising money for a childrens charity. We had a nice chat, one of them had been to Borneo so knew where I had taught in Malaysia. I asked if either of them had any pain or physical stuff going on, including sleep issues (which was what I felt Holy Spirit had singled out before I left). I explained that I pray for people and God takes their pain away.
The “Borneo” guy said he was fine but pointed to his friend/colleague (name Enzo) and told me that he had hearing issues. Enzo confirmed he had been born with only 70% hearing in his left ear. He said he also had a rash over his stomach. I prayed first for his ear, putting my hand lightly over it and commanded healing and 100% hearing. I asked him if he had any sensation while my hand was over his ear and he said “I felt like a breeze was moving in there”! I assured him this was good and prayed again for him. He said he wouldn’t be able to know what had happened until he listened to something through his headphones. He was smiling though!
I prayed briefly for his stomach too, cursing the rash and its cause and commanding clean, healthy skin. He didn’t feel anything this time (I had him put his hand on his stomach during the prayer)
Just after praying for him I felt from Holy Spirit that he had a younger brother who had health issues. I asked him if he had a brother – “yes, younger “– “is your brother okay at the moment - physically?” “Oh he’s okay”. But I explained I thought God had highlighted his brother because he had a need that God wanted to meet. Enzo then told me that actually his brother has real issues with his back (I felt immediately it was scoliosis and he confirmed this was the case) He asked would I please pray for his brother and I did right then and there, calling out different things I felt Holy Spirit showed me about him, as well as praying for his healing.
Enzo was so grateful and warmly shook my hand, smiling broadly.
His colleague had previously said he had chronic sleep problems but when I offered to pray for him he said he wasn’t a believer and didn’t want to be prayed for, even though he respected what I believe. I feel that he was “spooked” by what he saw happening with his friend and maybe thought God would expose some things about his life that he was uncomfortable about. I blessed him and Enzo shook my hand again, thanking me, and I went on my way.
Back in the shop where I had tried to collect my item, a text arrived at that very moment telling me the item had just arrived to collect in store! If I hadn’t stepped into Holy Spirit’s “Barry White beat”, I would have missed the two treasures in the street and the one I needed to collect for someone’s Christmas present. Gotta love those Holy Spirit funky beats!!
